Luteína é um carotinoide de origem vegetal, que é enriquecido na mácula da retina humana e protege as células fotorreceptoras contra a luz de comprimento de onda curta e radicais livres.

Reconhecida pela sua função protetora dos olhos e da visão, pois consegue reduzir em 40% a incidência de luz danosa à retina, além de filtrar a luz azul que é prejudicial à mácula (pequena estrutura da retina responsável pela visão de detalhes).

Desempenha um papel importante na promoção e proteção da saúde ocular relacionada com a idade.

Ajuda a manter as funções visuais normais, melhora a densidade óptica do pigmento macular.
