Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin and is therefore not stored in the body in significant quantities.

As an antioxidant, Vitamin C protects the body from oxygen radicals and is involved in the synthesis of collagen, which is necessary for the formation of connective tissue, bone and cartilage, as well as skin function.

It also stimulates the immune system and improves the absorption of iron from food.
